Delete Your Account
This page explains how to delete your Vivekananda Voice account (org.vivekananda.voice on Android, Vivekananda Voice on iOS) and the data that is synced with it.
An account is optional. Signing in only exists so your reading position, listening progress, favourites, highlights, and bookmarks follow you between your devices. The entire library can be read and listened to without ever signing in.
Delete From Inside the App
The quickest way, and it takes effect immediately:
- Open Vivekananda Voice.
- Go to More → Account.
- Sign in, if you are not already signed in.
- Tap Delete Account and confirm.
Your account and everything stored in the cloud are erased at that point. The app keeps working afterwards, without an account.
Request Deletion Without the App
If you have uninstalled the app or cannot sign in, email [email protected] from the address you signed in with, asking us to delete your Vivekananda Voice account.
We will confirm the request and delete the account within 30 days. We may need to ask a question or two to confirm the request came from the account holder.
What Is Deleted
Deleting your account permanently removes, from our servers:
- your sign-in record, including the name and email address supplied by Google
- synced reading positions and listening progress
- synced favourite chapters, highlights, and bookmarks
Nothing is kept in a backup beyond the deletion. There is no separate retention period for this data.
What Stays on Your Device
Anything held locally on your phone is yours and is not touched by account deletion: downloaded audio, local reading positions, and app settings. To clear those as well, use Settings → Data → Reset App Data in the app, or uninstall it.
